How We Met

We met on good old Hinge, when Ruben liked Maggie's profile. We bonded over our love of "chisme" (gossip), Scrabble, and hot dogs (though Maggie may have exaggerated the depth of her love of hot dogs). On our first date, we both showed up early and learned not only that we're both Tauruses, but that we also shared many traits (punctuality being one of them!).

The Proposal

After two years of dating, which included a big cross-country move from Austin to New York City, we decided that we wanted to spend our lives together. One day, while we were visiting family in Santa Fe, Ruben surprised Maggie by taking her to Cross of the Martyrs, a beautiful park overlooking the city of Santa Fe, right at sunset. We shared a magical moment when the park suddenly cleared out and we had the place to ourselves. Ruben got down on one knee and asked Maggie to marry him. As we were leaving the park, a man noticed we had just gotten engaged and told us he had been to this park hundreds of times and that this sunset was one of the most beautiful sunsets he had ever seen. He told us we were lucky to catch such a beautiful sunset for our engagement. We are inclined to agree ;)
