Ashley’s Perspective: When I first met Ben, the first thing I noticed was his smile and how genuine he was. He’s one of those types of people you meet once in a lifetime. As soon as we sat down at our table, he was picking on me and right then and there I realized if this worked out our life together would never have a dull moment. We would just have fun together because our personalities clicked so well. I was so impressed and captivated by someone I just met and we stayed until close laughing and enjoying each other’s company. It felt like I had known him for years. As soon as I got into my car, I called my friend and said I think I met my future husband tonight and I know how crazy that sounds. I was not one to be that impulsive with my thoughts. You bet I was right. I sometimes still can’t believe this incredible person is going to be my husband. Ben’s Perspective: Having been the first date I’d been on in almost 2 years it was honestly pretty intimidating. I remember calling my best friend on the way to Westminster saying i didn’t know what to expect. Almost immediately the expectation shifted when seeing Ash for the first time thinking she was very pretty and us struggling to figure out how the parking machine worked in 40 degree weather for about 5 minutes laughing the entire time. The rest of the date got even easier. With us being in our late 20’s we started talking immediately about student loan debt before getting into the more generic discussion on a first date. Of everything i remember about that day, it’s how much we laughed, smiled at each other, and didn’t eat our dinners because we could just endlessly talk. It’s something I knew at that moment would be valuable and continues to hold true as we enter marriage.
