In 1983, after a night out with friends, we met at the infamous late night hot spot -- Nick's Roast Beef in Beverly -- and quickly became smitten with each other. By the spring of 1984, after pressure from Robin's parents, Frank made the difficult decision to end our relationship, feeling he wasn’t good enough for Robin. The breakup was sudden and with little explanation. We were both heartbroken, though neither of us fully realized the depth of the other's feelings at the time. We moved on, married other people, raised our families, and navigated life the best we could. In 2020, Robin experienced the sudden loss of her dad in the early days of the COVID pandemic and went on to publish his obituary sharing the loss publicly. In mid-December 2020, Robin received a text that simply said, "I don't know if you remember me or not, but this is Frankie Ragusa." He was reaching out to let Robin know that he had learned of her dad’s passing, offering his condolences. He also apologized for the abrupt breakup, explaining that several health scares had led him to a period of reflection, where he felt the need to make peace with people he had hurt or abandoned—and Robin was one of those people. After the initial shock wore off, they began to reconnect through text and talking through their past and present, finding forgiveness and then eventually they agreed to meet up once more several weeks later. Seeing each other after 40 years stirred up many unresolved emotions. By mid-January 2021, we had our first date in Ogunquit, ME, at the Front Porch Piano Bar. In September 2022, Frank took Robin to the very spot where, in 1984, he had made the decision to end their relationship. It was there that he proposed. Since then, our bond has deepened in ways we never expected. We’ve welcomed our first granddaughter (and are eagerly anticipating a grandson in February 2025), adopted an English Cream Retriever named Luna, and bought a home together in Newbury, MA. It feels as though we've picked up right where we left off all those years ago, learning to go with the flow and cherishing each moment together. We are excited to share our wedding story and the upcoming celebration with our family and friends!
