Sandals rooms are broken up into three tiers: Luxury, Club Level, and Butler Elite. The basic room is the Luxury, while the Club and Butler rooms offer extra perks and a concierge service. All room tiers have access to the same restaurants, bars, and activities.
Every room at Sandals South Coast is beachfront, so you'll have a beautiful view no matter which room you select! The property is divided into three main "villages": the French, Dutch, and Italian village. We would recommend staying in the Dutch or Italian village, as these rooms have been more recently updated. If you are unsure of which room to choose, ask our Sandals Concierge to help you! Note that Sandals is set up as a couple's resort, so the room rates are based on double occupancy. If you are interested in sharing a room with another wedding guest, reach out to us and we can help facilitate that! You can also view a map of the property here: https://www.sandals.com/south-coast/maps/
Sandals is an all-inclusive resort, so your room rate includes all food, drinks, and a bunch of activities. Learn more about everything included here: https://www.sandals.com/all-inclusive/what-is-included/
No, you can definitely stay elsewhere if you wish! However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Sandals South Coast is located in a pretty remote area (surrounded by a 500-acre nature preserve!), so hotel options are a bit more limited than in the touristy Montego Bay or Negril areas. Also, you will need a day pass in order to attend the wedding, and you will need to make your own transportation arrangements. Please let us know if you will be staying off-site so we can arrange the day pass for you.
We will be on site from April 11th, so feel free to arrive early to hang out with us before the wedding! The number of nights you stay is totally up to you. If you'd like to spend more time at the resort, we recommend arriving further in advance because we will be starting our Honeymoon on April 15th (the day after the wedding).
Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. From there, it's about a 90-minute drive to Sandals South Coast.
YES! After you make your way through immigration at the airport, find the Sandals desk. They offer complimentary airport transfers on a bus. Note that it is about a 90-minute ride on some bumpy roads (if you get motion sickness, we'd recommend taking some dramamine just in case). If you'd prefer a private transfer via car, Sandals can arrange that for you for an additional fee - ask our concierge for details.
For US citizens, a valid passport and a copy of your return travel ticket are required. For details, see here: https://www.visitjamaica.com/plan-your-trip/good-to-know/entry-requirements/
For our wedding ceremony and reception, we kindly request you wear Resort Evening attire (see details below). Since it will be on the beach, wear flat shoes or sandals and lightweight, comfortable fabrics. We also recommend bringing sunglasses to the ceremony, which will take place just before sunset. Also note that Sandals has a dress code for restaurants. Resort Casual: Shorts or jeans, t–shirts or polo shirts. Swimwear must be covered. Shirts and footwear required. Resort Evening: Dress pants or jeans for men, long or short sleeve dress shirts (with or without collar). Dress shoes or sandals. No shorts, t–shirts, sleeveless shirts, sneakers, flip flops or slippers. No hats nor caps. See dress code for each specific restaurant here: https://www.sandals.com/south-coast/restaurants/
Don't forget the SPF and bug spray! You may also want to bring water shoes. Suggested packing lists are provided in this blog: https://www.sandals.com/blog/what-to-pack-for-a-vacation-in-jamaica/
Once you are at Sandals, you do not need to tip (in fact, Sandals employees are prohibited from accepting tips). The two exceptions to this are for Butlers and any spa services you receive. It is a good idea to bring some small bills with you, however - as it is expected that you will tip the shuttle driver, and also guides for any excursions you take off the resort. American dollars are widely accepted, but you can also exchange currency at the Sandals front desk.
Sandals has a great "Travel Checklist" article that may answer many of your questions here: https://www.sandals.com/blog/sandals-travel-checklist/
