Their Love Story

Our story began in 2019 at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Fremont, WI. We had technically worked there the year before, but barely knew each other. It wasn’t until the next camping season that we started noticing one another a little more—and with some encouragement from a few mutual coworkers, we started talking more and spending time together. Eventually, we planned our first date: a summer night of mini golf at Tom Thumb, ice cream at the Red Mill, and a scary movie ("IT Chapter 2"). It was the kind of night that felt effortless, and from there, things moved quickly. We realized how naturally we connected and how similar our outlooks on life were. After high school graduation, we made the move to Fort Atkinson together as Haley started college. Life had its twists—Haley left college, traveled to Puerto Rico for a month, and came back with a new best friend: our dog, Honey. She then pursued esthetics school and opened her own business. Around the same time, Reese began an electrical apprenticeship in the Fox Valley. He recently became a journeyman electrician, moving forward in the electrical world! We’ve grown a lot over the years—both individually and together—but have always prioritized being a team. In 2022, we bought our first home in Weyauwega, surrounded by the people and places that mean the most to us. Our favorite way to spend time together is simple: trying new restaurants and enjoying each other’s company. Quality time and humor has always been at the heart of our relationship. Then came January 17th, 2025. While vacationing in Puerto Rico—we spent a full day snorkeling around Culebra Island known to have one of the best beaches in the world and immaculate snorkeling opportunities. Haley had a feeling a proposal might be coming, but was totally surprised by the way it happened. Reese had kept the ring secured in his pocket all day, waiting for the right moment. Just before heading back to the mainland, as the sun was setting and tropical fish swam nearby, he dove beneath the water, opened the ring box, and proposed. It was simple, quiet, and perfectly us. We kept the moment to ourselves for the next week and a half, soaking in the feeling of being newly engaged before sharing it with anyone else. Now, over five years since that first mini golf date, we’re excited to celebrate with the people we love and begin the next chapter of our story—side by side.
