We met at Georgia Southwestern State University. When we would see each other around campus, we would partake in a little small talk. One day, as I was walking from a basketball game on campus, his cousin yelled out, "There she goes! I then knew something was up. It then went from us going to the library together to study or do work. He would walk me to class or work. We would also go eat at the cafe and paint with our small friend group. We became really good friends. Then came the COVID shutdown, which sent us home to virtual learning. We would FaceTime and talk on the phone every day, which drew us closer. Then that’s pretty much when we thought, "Okay. This could be something."

After a stressful week of work, Rodney texted me dinner plans for the weekend. He came and got me, and we headed to Columbus. While on our way to dinner, he said that he wanted to stop at the river walk where we had our first date. We held hands as we walked to a garden behind this building, and as we approached, I could hear the song, "This is Why I Love You. I then saw all of our family and friends, some holding signs that read "Will You Marry Me? I looked over, and he was down on one knee.
