Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Elizabeth Whitten and Korbahn Peace
Dahlonega is a delightful small town in the North Georgia mountains. It is the site of the first U.S. Gold Rush and the home of Elizabeth and Korbahn’s alma mater, The University of North Georgia (UNG). UNG is also one of six senior military colleges in the U.S. with about 700 cadets, formerly including Korbahn. While at UNG Korbahn held a number of leadership roles in the cadet core including Brigade Chaplain, etc. According to the Consolidated Mine website, Dahlonega is “pronounced Duh-Lon-uh-guh, the name actually derives from the Cherokee word ‘Dalonige’ which means ‘yellow’ or ‘gold,’ so it is no surprise that the town would be named for the gold that was found here. Dahlonega gold was used on the top of the UNG Administration building and on the dome of the Georgia State Capital Building in Atlanta.
