How We Met

February 2013

Courtney and Patrick met on "Bid Night" a semi-annual tradition of our fraternity. At the time, they didn't think much of it. Courtney was just one of many Brothers and Patrick was one of twenty new initiate members. Patrick and Courtney became friends overtime, as his big in the fraternity was good friends with Courtney.

Our First Date

February 14, 2014

A year after they met, Patrick had become infatuated with Courtney. He decided to ask her our for donuts at the Frying Dutchman in Kutztown on a cold February morning. She rejected him, and Patrick ended up getting donuts by himself*. The next week, Patrick asked Courtney to accompany him on a drive to Wawa, and she said yes. She's later admitted she only went to get a ride to Wawa, since the closet one to Kutztown is 15-20 minutes away from the school. Patrick was persistent (or, as Courtney says, a pain in the butt), and they eventually went on their first date at the Kutztown Tavern on Valentine's Day. Although their first date was in February, Patrick didn't officially ask her out until May 25. *Because of this rejection, Courtney and Patrick celebrate "Donut Day" every February 1. On this day, she purchases donuts for him from a location of his choice.

Our First Trip

December 2014

Courtney and Patrick took a trip to Niagara Falls, NY after their first Christmas as a couple. It was a beautiful, snowy drive to upstate New York. Their first stop was Buffalo, where they went to Anchor Bar (home of the original buffalo wings!) and a Buffalo Sabres game against the Florida Panthers. Patrick was excited about this portion, since he was able to mark a new hockey arena off his list and see Jaromir Jagr, one of his favorite players, during his tenure on the Panthers. Their trip consisted of seeing a beautiful, frozen Niagara Falls and spending time around the town.

The Proposal

December 14, 2019

Patrick knew early on he wanted to be with Courtney for the rest of his life and bought a ring back in June 2017. He was waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question, and it took two and a half years to get there. Patrick had planned to propose at Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem with a few of his friends there, however the day ended up being rainy, and the event was packed. Patrick soon realized he wanted the proposal to be intimate and took Courtney later that night to SteelStacks, which were illuminated with red and green lights for the holidays. Patrick got down on one knee in a secluded area, and thankfully, even though it took five and a half years, she said yes.

Our First Home

November 23, 2020

In June, Courtney and Patrick decided to search for their first home. They cast their net far and wide across the Lehigh Valley, looking at homes in Bethlehem, Hellertown, Allentown, Whitehall, Northampton, Nazareth, Easton, Salisbury, and many more. Finally, in October, after putting offers in on multiple homes and touring four times that amount, they caught a break. Their offer was accepted on a home in Macungie, and they closed and moved in the week of Thanksgiving with the help of their families. Since then, they've been making this new area their home. On January 23, they adopted a dog and named him Cooper. It was love at first tail wag when they met Cooper, since he immediately crawled into their laps and showed he was a real buddy. Patrick and Courtney are excited to add him as an addition to their growing family.
