How We Met

08.24.2017

How we didn't meet before August of 2017 is kind of crazy when we think of how many times our lives have crossed... Sports, Sports Complexes, College, Living 12 minutes apart... But we didn't. It took an online (swiping) dating app to make it happen. We matched on Bumble. After a period of talking and messaging and failed attempts at first dates that ended in brownie batter on the couch, a real first date happened. A first date was set for Thursday, August 24th at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. This was the start of Kortni and Patrick. Kortni made friends with not one but two old men (those that know her will not find this shocking) who were tag alongs (employees) for the first bit. Kortni practically whiffed the ball off the first tee with nerves on high alert while Patrick was cool as can be as the old man employee forced Kortni to hit multiple off the tee as she stood there in complete horror. Basically they survived the ultimate first date without too many more horrors or deep embarrassment but had a whole lot of curiosity...

The Proposal

07. 14. 2019

A weekend getaway was scheduled for Crossville, Tennessee for some rounds of golf and quality time. Patrick had been wanting to show Kortni one of his favorite courses, Stonehenge, so we headed down to Tennessee on Saturday morning for a round of golf Sunday morning and another to follow Monday. We arrived a little earlier than check in so decided to grocery shop while we waited where Patrick promptly gave Kortni a hard time for choosing the slow check out lane (ring is in the car at this point) and also for splitting the bill wrong forcing Patrick to pay a whole $1.78 more while he was 'trying to save for a ring.' We checked into our home for the weekend and it was perfect with a large balcony looking over yet another golf course. The next morning, tee time was set for 7:00am and the first tee of the day (Kortni had to dodge an old man that wanted to play with the two of them). Patrick had told Kortni he wanted to take a photo at the 15th tee box because the view was his favorite. After climbing the hills to the tee box hidden away up in the mountain, Kortni decided to tee off from the men's tees because it was a better view from the ladies and then hit first for the first time all day. After teeing off (solid shot for those who are curious), Patrick came up and put his arm around Kortni talking about the view (strange but Kortni shrugged it off). He proceeded to joke but ended his joking with 'forever' where Kortni put the dots together realizing what was coming... Kortni will say she blacked out here and Patrick will say she tackled him and wouldn't let go. He did finally get her to let go so he could appropriately get down on one knee and ask her to be his wife. Utter shock. Success.
