How did we meet?

We know where, just not when...

We met somewhere between 2004 and 2010. (Mike has a brain injury, what's Jeanette's excuse?) We developed our friendship over the course of several years, then on April Fool's Day, 2017, we took the plunge and started dating. Jeanette: In my defense, there were other things going on at that time! What we agree on is that we met at a Social Work Conference; however, the year of the conference does not coincide with Mike's timeline. I have the proof of what the topics are in which Mike believes we met and trust me when I tell you someone is not giving the correct time. We can agree that a mutual friend introduced us and there were many parties this friend had in which we developed the loving relationship you see before you. Mike: What she said! Sometimes to make a relationship work you have to agree, even if you don't believe it.

The Proposal

We started dating in Atlantic City, so why not propose there?

Mike: I knew at 6 months in that Jeanette was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, but I waited. Then, when we were on a trip to Atlantic City on June 16th, I decided to pop the question. I was planning to propose on the beach (her happy place). So after dinner we walked towards the boardwalk with the ring in my pocket. I was so afraid it was going to fall out, I kept on feeling my leg to make sure it was there. On the way we ran into her former boss, and we stopped to chat with him, but I was so nervous, I was really abrupt with him (sorry Harry). Jeanette: So...here is my side of the story. We ran into my boss and Mike was coming off as rude to him. We walked to the beach and sat, talking and listening to our playlist. Other people came along and we decided to move further down to get away from them as we were having a very private conversation about something very, very important (ok truth is I don't remember but I am sure it was!). As we found our new spot, Mike dropped his phone into the sand - a move I couldn't understand because all I could think about was how would he get the sand out of his phone. When I turned my focus back to him, he was on one knee, holding a ring and asked me to marry him. Without a doubt or hesitation, I said yes.

We actually had a pandemic wedding

On October 10, 2020

We had a small ceremony with our immediate family, but we were unable to share our special day with many of our other loved ones. So we are now having an all out party and we want you to come. There will be cocktails, food, dessert, dancing and drinking. We hope to see you there.

Why I'm in love...

The truth

Mike: Jeanette makes me laugh like you wouldn't believe. She is beautiful inside and out, and she genuinely wants to see us happy. I love waking up next to her. She is caring and compassionate with just a touch of crazy. When she just read a touch of crazy, she said, "What do you mean dear?" I responded with, well you have to be a little crazy to marry me. Jeanette: Despite his being a morning person, I love Mike with all of my heart and being. Anything I share with him in terms of my goals and dreams, he does his best to go out of his way to make sure it happens. Mike makes me laugh and pushes me to be a better person. He loves me unconditionally and he has taken myself and my baggage on full force. Also, I am waiting for him to make it big when he wins American Idol as he has the voice of an angel!
