We met in October 2015 at UMass Amherst, in the kind of setting you don’t expect to spark anything lasting, a packed pregame that led to an even more packed car ride. Eight people crammed into a sedan built for five left us sharing the front seat. What could have been an awkward ride turned into hours of laughter, conversation, and realizing just how much we had in common. It didn’t take long to realize how aligned our lives already were. We grew up just minutes apart, sharing dreams of a career in healthcare, Orett as a doctor, Camille as a nurse, and knew many of the same people. By the end of that night, it already felt like the start of something, and even though a phone number wasn’t exchanged, thankfully, a Facebook friend request soon fixed that, and the rest is history. The first four years were long-distance, marked by flights, FaceTimes, and even a one-year anniversary celebrated on different continents while Camille studied abroad in South Africa. It wasn’t always easy, but it gave us a solid foundation. In 2020, we finally closed the distance and made New Jersey home. Since then, life has been full of school, work, travel, moving back to Boston, and the everyday adventures that have shaped our relationship. Looking back, that crowded car ride feels like it was always meant to happen. Over 10 years later, we’re ready for the next chapter, and we’re so grateful to have all of you with us as we celebrate.
