How We Met

It all started when Amanda’s best friend Izzy decided to pull a prank by sending Amanda a strange, too-accurate text from an “unknown number.” Amanda was ready to call the police. Izzy thought it was hilarious. Amanda did not. When Izzy finally confessed it was her cousin Rob, Amanda did what any reasonable person would do: stalked him on Instagram. Plot twist - he was cute. Like, really cute. Unfortunately, he lived across the country. Oh well, she thought, and moved on… kind of. Fast forward to November 2016: after months of chatting, Rob visited Seattle, and they met for the first time at Pike Place Market. One day playing tourist turned into something bigger. Long-distance calls turned into cross-country flights, and before they knew it, they were officially a couple, fueled by red-eyes, late night calls, and the occasional budget trip to meet up in random US cities… (True love, but make it fiscally responsible.) Four years of long-distance flew by for them both. By 2020, when the pandemic grounded travel, Amanda packed up her cat, and Rob and Amanda road-tripped across the country to finally make the move from long-distance to living together in Boston. All of their friends and family said (or were thinking) the same thing. Okay… this is either going to go really well or be a total disaster. Good luck! (Spoiler: it went really well.) After two years of New Hampshire hikes, Boston date nights, and many Eastie sunsets, Rob took a one-shot chance at a job in Washington, and got it. They packed up again and settled by the beach in West Seattle, where they now live with their cat Felix and their mini Aussie, Pemi. Rob proposed during a trip to Utah for the solar eclipse on 10/13/2023. He surprised Amanda by getting down on one knee at the Pink Sand Dunes State Park during sunset. Today, after 39 states, 12 countries, two cross-country moves, and countless adventures, Amanda and Rob are ready for their biggest adventure yet - marriage. They're grateful for every wild, funny, and beautiful mile that brought them here, and they can't wait to celebrate with all of you who cheered them on along the way.
