We're getting married!

Mylinh and Nicholas met at their alma mater’s library when they both coincidentally sat at tables next to one another. They then met through a mutual friend and hit it off immediately. The two of them should have been studying for upcoming exams, but instead Mylinh and Nicholas were racing through bookshelves and playing little games in the library. That night they exchanged phone numbers and quickly became great friends. Within weeks, they were staying up talking on the phone, going to the fields to watch each other’s intramural football games, attending small parties together, etc. Shortly after, they developed feelings for each other. One late night, Mylinh and Nicholas drove out to a park and stayed up talking about everything--their fears, their dreams, their favorite movies, you name it. It was one of those nights where they got to know each other on a deeper level. By the crack of dawn, the two were smitten and knew there was something special there. Although this was the case, the both of them stayed friends. Fast forward about one year later. Mylinh and Nicholas were still really great friends. On the night before Thanksgiving 2011, Nicholas found out he was accepted to his dream college and would be transferring the following semester. Mylinh was excited for him, but sad she would lose someone important to her. Nicholas also realized at that moment that he would be moving away from not only his family and friends, but someone he could potentially have a future with. The following day, Mylinh and Nicholas met up and as they were talking and hanging out together, Nicholas decided it was time to make things official! He ended up not transferring and the rest is history!

On the morning of Mylinh’s birthday, she received a card from Nicholas that told her to get dressed and to go to the place where they both met. Immediately, Mylinh knew she was about to go on a scavenger hunt! When Mylinh got to her first destination, the library, she ran into two friends who had her reenact the night they met and had her run through the bookshelves to retrieve her next clue. Following that, she received more clues throughout the hunt that sent her to many meaningful spots including one of her go-to restaurants from college, the place they celebrated their first anniversary, their college boba shop stop, and a soccer field they used to hang out at. The last card sent her home to freshen up and get ready for a date night! Finally Nicholas came to pick Mylinh up and drove her to the park they had gone to long before to have a picnic dinner. As the evening continued, he walked her to the dock and asked her to dance. As they were dancing to “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young, Nicholas had a wide grin on his face. Mylinh was smiling back thinking she knew what was about to happen. Instead, she was caught off guard because the next thing Nicholas said was “I know you know what’s about to happen, so let me win for once and you get down on one knee and propose to me!” Mylinh was absolutely shocked and laughed! She was so surprised and did not expect it. After Nicholas begged Mylinh to propose to him, she agreed she would so long as he did it first. Nicholas finally got down on one knee to propose and of course she said yes! She then took her turn and got down on one knee as he uncontrollably laughed and said yes! The newly engaged couple ended the night by popping bottles of champagne with their close family and friends and it was definitely a day they would never forget. It was the perfect day filled with so much love and laughter. And that, my friends, is the story of The Proposal.
