The Bride's favorite museum. Check out the original Warhol and Van Gogh paintings & get some coffee in the beautiful cafe in the courtyard.
While small, the variety of fish to see is amazing. The conservatory attached is spectacular to wander through too!
The Grooms Pick. The beautiful & large zoo features many animals and exhibits, including the new Red Panda Skywalk and the New Polk Penguin Center.
One of the couple's favorite museums to visit together. Check out the Historic and Operating Greenfield Village to explore different historic homesteads.
If you want to experience a real Michigan Fall, please check out our favorite cider mill & brewery! They make a variety of hard ciders, and wines along with Michigan fall favorites; pressed cider and cinnamon sugar cider donuts. There is so much to do at Blakes from their seasonal festivals to their amazing restaurant to apple picking and pumpkin picking!
A Detroit classic, Detroit-style pizza is a thick square crust with lots of cheese and sauce and toppings hiding under the cheese. The best pizza in the midwest.
Atwater Brewing offers a variety of different types of brews to try and taste! The most popular has to be their Atwater Dirty Blonde!
Another popular Brewery in Metro Detroit! Some favorites include Dirty Bastard, Nitro Rubæus, & All Day IPA.
Visit the place we took our beautiful engagement photos, with a large pumpkin patch, multiple orchards to wander around, a restaurant, on-site brewery, and delicious donuts and cider slushies, Uncle John’s is a staple for the Lansing Community.
While the smallest of the cider mills we recommend, it’s still filled with lots of fun fall activities. Ticket price includes a free cider donut and a cup of their amazing cider, unlimited tracker rides and barrel rides. They have two beautiful pick your own flower fields and a awesome petting zoo with very friendly animals to enjoy and feed and a cute little pumpkin patch, and three intricate corn mazes to explore.
One of the best cities in Michigan (and universities & university football teams) is Ann Arbor and one of the coolest features is the Natural History Museum on campus. Filled with dinosaur bones and interactive displays, it’s definitely worth the trip to Ann Arbor (which also has an amazing downtown and restaurant scene). The Darwin Cafe located within the museum itself is also great for a quick bite before you head back out into the city to explore.
Located in one of the most popular cities in Metro Detroit, right off the iconic and scenic Woodward Ave, is Astoria Pastry Shop. All homemade and made with love, it’s a staple of the Royal Oak community. The Brides personal favorite are the cannolis and their giant red velvet cupcakes, but you can’t go wrong with any type of sweet here. Everything is delicious.
One of our favorite places in Royal Oak, Ale Mary’s offers a variety of taps and craft cocktails and two distinct menus; a meat eaters menu and a delicious vegan menu. It’s one of the best places for those who enjoy vegan food and a good pint.
It’s difficult to pick a place in the bustling downtown city of Rochester Hills. Beautiful parks, amazing restaurants, and great shopping options are at your fingertips here. A great option if you just want to stroll around and enjoy a smaller downtown but don’t want to stray too far.
Visit the brides hometown and experience the gorgeous little town of Lake Orion, where living is a vacation. Lake orion was once the vacation spot for the affluent detroiters to get away, having a beautiful Lake (the namesake, Lake Orion) and a amazing carnival on the lake. While the carnival is no longer there, you can still visit Greens Park, situated directly across from Downtown. While it’s changed quite a lot over the years since the Bride was a child, it’s still retained the small town charm and even added some amazing restaurants and shopping. The iconic Ed’s costume still sits at the corner of downtown, next to Johnny Blacks Lake House, a staple for the area. Fork and Pint sits a block away and is one of the Brides favorite restaurants. Children’s Park sits directly in the center of downtown with beautiful walking trails and very friendly ducks to watch. Truly an amazing little town, even with its own little waterfall in the park.
