How We Met

10/17/2015

Believe it or not we met on Tinder. After texting for a bit and talking on the phone we decided to meet in person to watch the Penn State vs Ohio State game that year since we had already discovered we were both big Penn State football fans. We initially planned to meet up at the Penn State bar at the time in Arlington called Carpool (RIP). When we both got there and realized the line was wicked long and it was crazy crowded, we decided to try another Penn State bar.. called The Tortoise and the Hare, which was also crowded. So we ended up settling on a basic sport bar up the street from the second bar to grab dinner and somewhat watch the game. We hit it off instantly and even when Zach had to leave for Miami 2 weeks later to work on a yacht, we decided our connection was was too good to not try to make it work and the rest is history.

The Proposal

9/6/2020

The weekend we got engaged we were up at Zach's parents house in Bellefonte, PA to celebrate Zach's birthday. What Nicole didn't know was that the ring was at their house already. On Sunday, we decided that we were going to go to Big Springs Distillery with Zach's sister and brother in law, Jennilyn and Bryan. Since Bellefonte is a very walkable town and Big Springs is very close we decided to walk. On the way we passed through Tallyrand Park where there is a little bridge passing over the spring. Jennilyn and Bryan were hanging back a little bit since Zach had secretly winked at his sister to signal to her that he was about to propose. Nicole being clueless and Zach being his funny self, he says to Nicole "Wow look at that duck in the water" to which Nicole responds "What duck?" while trying to figure out what duck he was talking about. In the meantime, Zach got down on one knee with Nicole still peering over the bridge, requiring Zach to tell Nicole to turn around, and when she did she was shocked. Nicole didn't even give Zach a chance to ask the big question before she said "YES!". Thankfully, Jennilyn realized this was a necessary picture moment capturing the pure shock on Nicole's face.
