We go way back! We were in the same primary school. We weren't really friends, but we knew each other's names and would always greet each other whenever we crossed paths. Jay-Tee left to a different school for secondary but we kept each other on our social media platforms. Fast forward 13 years... On my (Nicole's) birthday, Jay-Tee was scrolling through Facebook and sent me an 'innocent' happy birthday message … I know what you're thinking... yes, he slid into my DMs! At the time, neither of us thought anything of it. Just 2 old friends reconnecting... right? Days later he messaged me again. And again. And again. Before we knew it, we were talking everyday. We finally decided to link up over coffee. We could not stop talking! Coffee went into the night and turned into dinner. Our first date was literally 6 hours! What more can I say, the rest is history.
One Sunday in Lusaka, we woke up early for church. When we got back to the farm afterwards, Jay-Tee asked me to go on a walk with him because it was such a beautiful day. As we walked down to the river, I caught glimpse of something on the bench... It was a bouquet of roses and a bottle of champagne. When I turned to Jay-Tee to ask what this all was, he was down on one knee! My initial answer was actually no! It was in pure disbelief and surprise. So while I cried and tried to calm myself down, poor Jay-Tee was kneeling the entire time waiting for me to give my final answer. Once it had fully registered and my crying settled, I said yes! :)
We try to go on as many dates as possible to escape the stresses of day-to-day life. We are both very involved in our local Church and commit most of our weekends and free time to ministry. We love praying and learning together.
