Fremantle - or Freo, as the locals call it - is a historic maritime city and Nicole's hometown. Only 30 minutes from Perth, make your way to Freo to enjoy the eclectic, bohemian lifestyle and some of the best beaches in WA. Some of our favourite restaurants include Emily Taylors, Tonic & Ginger and Bread in Common. For drinks we love Bathers Beach House, Republic of Fremantle, Gage Roads Brewery, Little Creatures and the Norfolk.
No trip to WA is complete without a visit to Rotto. Rottnest is a 30 minute ferry ride from Fremantle, and home to the world's friendliest animal, the quokka! Head over to Rotto to enjoy a car free island with 63 beautiful beaches, 45 km of walking trails and 22 km of cycling paths and roads. We recommend hiring a bike once you arrive on the island or simply walking. Our favourite beaches include Pinky's Beach, Geordie Bay and the Basin. Also be sure to check out Pinky's Beach Club and Hotel Rottnest. And of course, make sure you get a quokka selfie!
Only 25 minutes from Perth is a beautiful wine region! The Swan Valley is home to over 40 world class wineries. Our favourites include Sandalford and Mandoon Estate. We recommend making a day of it and heading over to a few.
More wine? Absolutely. A world renowned wine destination, featuring over 100 cellar doors, Margaret River is a 3.5hr drive from Perth. Head down south for premium wine, dining and some of the best beaches in the state. Our favourite spots in the Margaret River region include Vasse Felix, Xanadu and Voyager wineries, Yarri restaurant in Dunsborough, Shelter Brewing in Busselton and Ngilgi Cave in Yallingup.
It's no secret that WA has some of the best beaches in Australia. If you'd like to check some out while you're in town our favourites are Cottesloe, Leighton, Port, South and City Beach. Enjoy!
