In November of 2016 Elijah was hanging out with Davis Frydman and Rebecca was with Alina Giemont. We all ended up meeting at Pizza Press by Cal State Fullerton and were joined by other friends. The whole night Elijah did not say a word. Definitely a man of few words. Not too long after the thanksgiving, they met again to go bowling. It was a great time and at the end of the night, we were going to go have a bite at Norms. Still unsure of who would ride along with Elijah or Davis, Rebecca and a friend at the time decided to play rock, paper scissors to determine who would ride with whom. Rebecca ended up riding with Elijah that night and thus a budding friendship was born. Over the next few months and consistent group hangouts, the couple got to know each other a bit better. Even helping one another with ridiculous online dating profiles. Rebecca ended up leaving the university she attended so maintaining contact in person was a bit more difficult—especially since she didn’t have a license for a while. Elijah always made an effort to stay in contact even when he went through Navy basic training. Although she was unfortunately preoccupied during that summer, Rebecca wrote back with enthusiasm as soon as his letters arrived. Rebecca was obviously oblivious to his feelings for a long time and made some glaring mistakes that summer, but it all worked out for the better. The letters coupled with the constant hours long phone calls and video chats stirred up the true feelings that were locked away like a terrorist in Guantanamo Bay. That Christmas, she gave him her heart and luckily the very next day he did not give it away. Years have now since passed and this couple has truly grown together and are so excited to finally be taking the next step forward to the rest of their lives.
