How We Met

Jesse and Michelle found love in a hopeless place: Hinge in NYC. According to Jesse, he knew that Michelle was the one from the moment he laid eyes on her (I mean, duh). For Michelle, it may have even been before first sight—when Jesse called her out for watching the TikTok he sent of himself 15 times (something she had no idea could be tracked). Jesse rode that high into the date; whereas, Michelle’s confidence came from a couple of quick tequila shots...desperate times. (Have you met the Nesselbushs? They need all the help they can get with strangers. If you don’t know them, approach them after they’ve had a few). Michelle found a major green flag on their third date, when they went bowling. Leading up to the date, Jesse texted her non-stop about how good he was and how he “could probably go pro". Michelle was sure he’d win easily, but then she won both games... easily. An employee even interrupted their game to ask if Jesse needed the bumpers up. Michelle was impressed that Jesse managed to act happy (though he insisted on a few arcade rounds so he could win something before the night ended). However, Michelle really knew she had found the one a few months later, when she dared Jesse to dance in front of a seated crowd at a brewery concert, and he got right up there without hesitation. She loves how he’s confident, funny, and somehow good at everything (except maybe bowling). Over the following many dates, it became clear just how compatible they truly are. They’re both funny, attractive, athletic, loyal, smart (IQs probably in 99th percentile), empathetic (EQs, also, probably 99th percentile)—and incredibly humble. They even both wore #42 in high school basketball - you are witnessing fate, indeed! They love spending time together no matter the activity: walking Brodie every Saturday morning, watching and playing sports, spending time with family, or meeting friends for Friday happy hour. They thrive on spontaneous, last-minute plans since neither is much of a planner... so please send prayers that this wedding comes together. Most of all, they love to laugh together—and both believe they’re the funny one (jury’s still out). Their relationship has grown through the classic early-days challenges. Please congratulate Michelle for powering through—given Jesse’s only response to anything via text is “lol.” Michelle: “I love you, Jesse.” Jesse: “lol.” Michelle: “You want to hang out this weekend?” Jesse: “lol.” And Jesse managed to win over Michelle’s sisters—despite Michelle introducing them during a pickleball game. He immediately took over the entire court, leaving his partner, Shannon, unable to hit a ball. (“Didn’t you want to win, Shannon?”) It turns out the only person more competitive than a Nesselbush… is Jesse. They’ve also learned to compromise. While Michelle has firmly refused to become an Eagles fan, she is warming up to the Phillies. In fact, they feel strangely familiar to her as a Buffalo Bills fan—always making the playoffs, never quite winning. In all seriousness, we want to take a moment to honor Jesse’s mother, Kathleen Haley Hunsicker, who is deeply missed and was taken far too soon. She was endlessly proud of Jesse and one of Michelle’s biggest supporters. Jesse will always remember his mom’s bear hugs, her amazing cooking, and her unwavering love for her family and community. Michelle will forever be grateful for her warmth and promises to always cherish the incredible man she raised. They couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with you all and for you to be a continued part of their love story.
