LAX has a great deal of offers for flying out to San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland airport. Currently according to Expedia: Roundtrip flights from Los Angeles area to San Jose area ranges from 48$-104$, leaving January 5th and returning January 6th. Both Josh and Emily recommend San Jose Airport as it is a smaller, less stressful airport and only a 20 min drive to the venue. We highly recommend booking through Google flights as they tend to give you refunds if you paid higher than the final cost of the tickets.

Google Flights is a great tool for finding cheap flights from LA to San Jose. It tracks the costs and even will give you the difference in a refund if the end cost of the ticket is lower than what you originally paid.

Driving

Not wanting to fly? Join the Emily & Josh experience and drive! If guests are choosing to drive to the ceremony, there are several elements to keep in mind: gas, food, restrooms, and get ready time. Note: It will take from 6 to 8.5 hours to drive from San Pedro, CA to San Jose, CA on medium traffic day with stops and gas fill ups.

Leaving Thursday (anytime)

This option allows for much more wiggle room with timing! If you have early reservations at your hotel or Air BnB, this option allows you to drive up to San Jose with ease and less stress. We recommend leaving either before morning commute traffic (6-7am) or after commute traffic (10:30am-12:30pm). Please check your phones ETA with different leave times multiple days before your trip to plan which time of departure would work best for you. Josh and Emily have both left during the night and early morning. Emily prefers early morning as it makes the drive feel faster--and it feels like she is driving to get her second cup of coffee!

Leaving Friday (Morning) 5am-9:00am

For this option, we HIGHLY recommend bringing snacks and water with you for your drive! When Emily and Josh would visit each other on day of trips, they would go to Mitsuwa the day before and buy teas, coffee and onigiri for the trip! Having snacks is a lifesaver for not stopping for food to fuel up. If you live in San Pedro, CA, be sure to leave your house no later than 7 am. This will give you time to get through LA traffic and get you safely onto the 5 freeway. Leaving early will also help you bypass any San Jose work traffic, as well as give time for any accidents that could happen along the way. (One trip, one of us got a flat tire!) Be prepared.
