Travel Note

Cash and Currency

Please bring enough cash (USD only) for your expenses. You will need to exchange USD to LBP with respect to the blackmarket rate. You can exchange at any OMT or Western Union. Lirarate.org gives some guidance on the daily market rate. Do not exchange at the airport because you will get the government rate which is much lower than the blackmarket rate. Most places accept USD, so you may pay for your first taxi ride in USD. We recommend to have change of 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills. Credit cards : Do not use credit cards, cash only.

Travel Note

Passport and Visas

Passports and visas are required. U.S. citizens coming to Lebanon for tourism routinely receive a one-month visa on arrival at Beirut International Airport or other port of entry. Single entry visas start at around $35.
