We met at a super small bar called Enigma Bazaar(no longer open) at a cumbia sonidero event in Denver, Colorado on the hot summer night of June 23rd, 2023. Mandy's best friend Reyes was in town from Albuquerque and the two of them were the only ones on the dance floor (per usual!) of the 15 people in the bar, dancing so hard that they broke a sweat. They went outside to get fresh air and Mandy struck up a conversation with Moises and his brother Magdiel who had just finished a DJ set. Before leaving, Mandy told Moises to get her number and he planned on seeing her the next night at a Ritmo Cascabel show, a local cumbia band. After an action packed show they had a kick back at Mandy's house with Moises, Moises' friend Chino, and Mandy's bestie Reyes. Dario (Mandy's dog) immediately fell in love with Moises. Moises asked if he could take Mandy out for drinks the next day and of course she said yes. Drinks at a local bar turned into dinner and more drinks over jokes and laughter, shared love of culture, and deep appreciation of the Borderlands they come from. They haven't stopped giggling, growing, and sharing their disgust for Colorado green chili (yes, they spell it CHILI here instead of CHILE, ugh) ever since. Over the past 2.5ish years we have weathered so much change and embarked on many adventures with our 2 dogs through career changes, pursuing higher education, celebrating each others wins and having a blast with each other every single day. We are so excited to celebrate our union with our beloved friends, families, and mentors! Make sure you stretch before our reception because we are definitely going to tear up the dance floor!
