Migs and I met on the first day of high school but it was VERY far from love at first sight. In my opinion, he suffered from a serious case of short-man's syndrome and he, hailing from Pinetown, thought I was a very snobby Kloof girl... We didn't have too much to do with each other socially at school ( he was super sporty - I was super nerdy) but we'd often get lumped together because both of our surnames started with an "F". Registration classes, exam venues, Drama class plays, Afrikaans dialogues ( this memory still haunts me), even acting-prefect duty, we'd end up in the same class or group or pair. In our later years of high school, we ended up choosing similar subjects and saw a whole lot more of each other. Our mutual feelings of dislike finally turned into a friendship as we realised we actually had a few things in common. We went to our matric dance together ( adamant that we were going "just as friends!") and had the best group of mutual friends from youth at Kloof Harvest ( now Open Skies) - such a special time in both of our lives! Fast forward to the end of matric and some sparks were undeniable. We both independently made a decision to do our church's gap year programme ( known as "The Internship" back then - best and most challenging year ever!) and put all (most) sparks on hold, focused on dedicating our year to God, and decided we would reevaluate at the end of the year to see if the feelings were still there. Haha THE DAY after Interns finished ( 5 December 2016) - we officially started dating! Since then it's been a whirlwind five years of growing together with lots of laughs, car rides ( many of those back and forth to Varsity College ), restaurant 2-for-1 specials (#studentlife), varsity cramming, church volunteering, family berg trips, Saturday jobs, and SO MANY coffee dates. So I guess that's our story so far - we are so excited to have you witness the start of our next big chapter.
