In June 2021, fate intervened when we crossed paths on Hinge during separate vacations in Palm Springs. Despite living just two miles apart in Los Angeles, our profiles had never connected. Our first date was at Runyon Canyon, where we went on a hike being mindful of the pandemic and social distancing. Sparks flew instantly. We bonded over our love of SoCal and our shared Midwest upbringing and disdain of winter. After the first date, Michael wasted no time, texting Sam immediately, eager to set up our next date. Just two days later, we found ourselves sipping Endless Summer cocktails on Mama Shelter’s Rooftop in Hollywood. From that point on, we were inseparable.

In February 2024, we escaped the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles for a weekend hideaway at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs. Michael had orchestrated a day of pampering and self-indulgence to melt away stress (and his nerves). With refreshed minds and glowing skin, we wandered through the lush grounds until we reached a secluded spot. The sun dipped behind the mountains, casting a warm golden hour glow, and firepit flames danced in the background. It was there that Michael dropped to one knee and popped the question. Sam immediately said "yes!" Soon thereafter, we sauntered into Mister Parker’s steakhouse, savoring bubbles and dirty martinis, fully embracing our bon vivant lifestyle.
