In 2009 as Kyle was preparing to enter UWSP for the first time after finishing his Junior Hockey career, Meg was an orientation leader for the summer. Meg was all about the orientation leader life: the connections she made with incoming students, being a student leader on campus, and socializing with the other orientation leaders. Meg had no interest in finding a romantic relationship in one of her orientation pods. Cue a hot day in July. Kyle had NO interest in engaging in campus life conversations with his overly zealous orientation leader Meg. But when an ice breaker about music came up Kyle was the first student to correct Meg about her album choice (which Wilco album, Kyle?), his quick wit and bright blue eyes hung in the air for what felt like forever. Fast forward to the next day, Kyle looked hungover as hell, Meg was bright and bubbly in her blue polo, and said goodbye to her orientation pod. A few weeks later, a weird message showed up in Megs Facebook Messenger (mind you still a new feature to FB in 2009): “hey im in town this weekend if you want to grab drinks at mugshots heres my number”. So Meg thought about it, texted her bffl Traci & the rest is actual history. Multiple vodka sodas later on the sticky floor at muggers Meg left, not too sure what had just happened. Who was this kid? How did he know so much about music? What made his hair look that good? Days, weeks, months passed and they still hung out. At some point both Meg and Kyle had to figure out what they were actually doing: were they being serious? Or just chilling out for a while? Months turned into years, three years of long distance turned into living in a residence hall at depaul for five years for Megs job, a love for pets turned into our little fuzzy family with Sevi and Lily. And here we are today, in love til kingdom and wouldnt have it any other way.
