Our story

September 8th, 2017

Max and Shelley met at the birthday party of a mutual friend. That night, as cheesy as it sounds, they experienced something that could only be described as love at first sight. As the night went on, they gravitated towards one another, and upon striking up a conversation, something felt different. It felt less like meeting someone new and more like catching up with an old friend. A best friend. In spite of this, Max was hesitant to ask for Shelley's number that night (a detail she seldom lets him forget), but lucky for him, she decided to take matters into her own hands. The following night, Shelley showed up to his birthday party, alone, knowing only Max and carrying a 6-pack of beer. Max swears the moment he saw her walk in the door, he knew she was the one. The next 8 years are history.

Travel

Travel Note

The Venue, and where to stay

The wedding venue is the Retreat National Park, located on Village Road in Nassau, Bahamas. We recommend that you stay either on Paradise Island at a hotel or AirBnB (e.g., Comfort Suites) or on the East side of the island in an AirBnB (e.g., in Palm Cay). These are the two central locations at which shuttles will available to transport guests to and from festivities. There are no Ubers or public transportation in Nassau and it is not very walkable, but there are taxis that can be called to your hotel or AirBnB for other activities or should you choose to stay a bit further from the venue. If you are comfortable driving (on the left), you can also consider renting a car!

Travel Note

Cheryl’s Taxi Service

Cheryl's Bahamas Taxi and Tours prides themselves in being the leading taxi and tour operator based in The Bahamas, covering both Nassau and Paradise Island. For over 25 years, their company has provided professional, comfortable and reliable transportation services in the Bahamas.

Flight

Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA)

We recommend that you arrive by Friday evening and leave after Sunday midday in order to take part in all the festivities. Flights should be booked into Lynden Pindling International Airport, which is on the West side of New Providence. There are many direct flights out of New York and Philadelphia airports. We recommend you book as soon as you are able to, as April is a popular time to travel to the Bahamas.

Hotel

Comfort Suites Paradise Island

Comfort Suites is affordable and only about a 20 minute drive from the venue. The hotel is attached to Atlantis so the water park is included! There are lots of shuttles and taxis that can take you wherever you need to go at pretty much any time. We have locked in a group block on a first come, first served basis. Make your reservation by calling 1-888-638-0504 or 1-888-686-2971, stating that you are part of the Thalheimer & Andrews Wedding Group. Alternatively, you may fill out a booking form (email andrewsshelleym@gmail.com). There is a minimum 2-night stay required for each booking, and the booking must be confirmed no later than 5:00pm on July 24, 2025.

House Or Rental

Palm Cay

Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas

Palm Cay has a wide variety of options to choose from, including condominiums, houses, apartments, etc. If you are looking to stay somewhere that you could potentially cook a meal or stay with a large group in one spot, this would be a great option. Properties are located in a gated community, and some amenities may be offered based on the property you select. Palm Cay is about a 20 minute drive from the venue, but very close to the Bride's parents' residence.

Hotel

Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas

Atlantis is a bit pricier but nicer than Comfort Suites. It is only about a 20 minute drive from the venue. There are lots of shuttles and taxis that can take you wherever you need to go at pretty much any time.

Hotel

Baha Mar

1 Baha Mar Boulevard, Nassau, N.P, Bahamas

Baha Mar is on the pricier side of things and is about a 40 minute drive from the venue. There are lots of shuttles and taxis that can take you wherever you need to go at pretty much any time.
