Matthew and Meghan met in 2010 while working at Target. They started hanging out through mutual friends and soon after they became very close. Two years later on Meg's 20th birthday, they took their relationship to the next level and became boyfriend and girlfriend. fun fact: Their first time meeting was in the Target staff break room and they bonded over an anime opening theme song that Matt had been playing on his phone. The song was "Futatsu no Koduo to Akai Tsumi" from Vampire Knight.

Matt asked Meghan to marry him on September 10th of 2017 while on a picnic at Piedmont Park. Originally it was hard for Matt to find the opportunity to ask, but eventually the perfect moment arose and he went down on one knee. Once Meg registered what was happening, she broke down in happy tears and eventually said "YES!" after the shock subsided. fun fact: They celebrated afterwards with their friend Ciara who tagged along to take pictures and to keep Meghan clueless of Matt's plan to propose.
