Matt and Marissa’s story began in high school, when they both landed their very first jobs at Life Time Athletic. Marissa worked in the café, while Matt was part of the facility operations team. At first, they were just two teenagers trying to figure out how to navigate work, school, and life. But little by little, something started to grow between them. Marissa later admitted that she had her own way of making sure their paths crossed — she would “accidentally” break things or make a small mess in the café so Matt would have to stop by. The funny part was that once he arrived, she often ran away because she was too nervous to talk to him. What might have looked like ordinary teenage awkwardness to everyone else was, for them, the beginning of something special. As time went on, that high school romance became a serious relationship, one that carried them through college — even when distance made things difficult. The years apart tested them, but they also deepened the foundation of trust, patience, and commitment they had started building back when they were just kids at Life Time. When Marissa moved to Vermont after graduation, Matt realized he couldn’t do long-distance anymore. He still remembers walking into his boss’s office and, with a grin, quoting Good Will Hunting: “I gotta go see about a girl.” It was half a joke, half a grand declaration — but it was also the truest thing he’d ever said. That decision — to choose her, no matter the distance, no matter the challenge — has shaped everything since. What started with nervous smiles back at their first job in high school has grown into a love story they are so grateful to share, and one they’re thrilled to celebrate with all of you.
