The Proposal

August 17, 2022

Kristine's perspective: During the summer of 2022, we spent 12 days driving through 6 countries in Europe with Sarah (bestfriend), Jackie (sister), Michael (brother-in-law), Leon (nephew) and Sophia (niece). On our second day in Florence, Italy, we had a sunrise walking tour planned which required that we get up around 5:30 in the morning. As we drive towards the location, I asked why Angel's hands are so clammy (it had never been clammy in the span of 11 years of being together!). We arrive to the location where Angel asks me to walk away from the group to look at a specific view on the right side of the pathway. My sister then "subtlety" signals to Angel while pointing to the left to steer us the opposite way. Angel (again) tries to go the other way (to have private time alone) while my sister (again) points the opposite direction. By this time, I knew something was up. Angel then pulls me in the specific spot (as you can see in the picture) where I happen to glance at a woman with a camera (who turned out to be a photographer he booked) and proceeds to thank me for planning the trip, told me he loves me very much and gets on his knee and says "will you marry me?" He was SO nervous and barely got his words out. The moment was very calm in my mind as I had been expecting this already due to the aforementioned moments leading to the proposal (and more days before the trip). I thought the ring was BEAUTIFUL and how I always envisioned it. There was no doubt in my mind, my answer was yes. However, I wanted to have a little fun (those who know me, know my humor) and so my first response was "ARE YOU SURE?" I apparently repeated that twice which to others watching felt like an eternity! I (obviously) said "YES" which relieved my family in person and watching through zoom! We then spent the morning celebrating with champagne, desserts, and good company. P.S. There was no Florence sunrise walking tour (!)

For all the days along the way
