This looks awesome Mary & Kev...so, what's the deal with kids?

Kids are awesome! Sometimes, amiright. So, the only kiddos invited to the Big Day are family members. BUT, feel free to bring your kiddos to the Welcoming Party and the 4th of July After Party. On the evening of the Big Day, we will have an AirBnB in downtown Salida (near where the buses will be picking up and dropping off) designated as Kid Camp. We have local friends in Salida who have children lined up as pro "sitters" since they themselves are parents. These are trusted, wonderful people you can feel comfortable leaving your children with. The short answer, go ahead and leave those kiddos at home. But if you want to show them the beauty of the West, or if it helps you attend, we've got you!

What's your number 1 must-do activity in the area?

Answer

You have just GOT to get on the river! The Arkansas River has stretches of Class II-IV whitewater for awesome guided trips, but there area also flat sections with Class I rapids you can float or innertube down casually. For guided whitewater trips, please contact Wylie at Independent Whitewater 719.539.7737 to receive a discount when you mention the Waltermire Wedding. Our 4th of July After Party is at Wylie's beachfront!

How long will the bride & groom be in the area?

Answer

We'll be in Salida starting the week before the wedding weekend, and we'll be staying for three weeks afterwards as our staycation Honeymoon! So come early and stay late, friends!

Should I rent a car? Is there another transportation option to Salida?

Answer

Yes, renting a car is the most efficient means of transport from either airport. But, from Union Station in Denver, you could book a Bustang bus ride that would bring you to Salida. The Bustang has AC, Wifi, and is a very clean and comfortable bus.

Are there fireworks on the 4th of July?

Answer

You betcha! We'll be watching from Riverside Park in downtown Salida around 8pm.

If my accommodations are near Buena Vista, am I too far?

Answer

Not really, but be prepared for 30min ride each way. It's hard not to enjoy any length of drive in this area of Colorado. The Collegiate Peaks will always be in sight.
