Mary and Duncan first met through the popular dating app "Bumble" in 2019. After quickly connecting through text they decided to meet in person and became inseparable. They made their relationship official on January 15, 2020.
Duncan wanted to make the day of the proposal very special for Mary. He coordinated with his parents and asked his dad if they could visit their sail boat for lunch. His dad agreed and even went to the boat early that morning to hide the ring. Duncan let Mary sleep in and even surprised her with freshly brewed coffee when she woke. They spent the morning in their pjs and took their time getting ready for a nice lunch on the water. Duncan drove the two to pick up sushi from Deale Umai Sushi House and then made their way to the boat. After eating they took their tripod and took nice pictures together. While the phone was capturing pictures Duncan got down on one knee and asked Mary to be his wife.
