Covid Safety

We’re really looking forward to welcoming you on our special day! But things are weird right now. You probably have a lot of questions. Hopefully, this page has your answers. If not, please contact us. Just like in elementary school—there’s no such thing as a stupid question. MARYAM maryameshghi@gmail.com 914-629-3577 JEFF jeffdewaters@mac.com 914-907-0131 ——————————————— If you join us, we respectfully ask that you be as careful as possible in the two weeks before our wedding (masks, social distancing—all the standard stuff, times ten). Being famous has its perks, but we’d prefer not to make the news! If you read all this and still feel uncomfortable—we understand. Please know that you’ll be missed, and we hope you’ll consider coming to the church. If you want to do that, write “church only” on your RSVP card (or call/text us if you've already mailed it). This way, we can keep an eye on the headcount and stay within a safe range.
Question

Overall, what will the day look like?

Answer

It won’t be a typical wedding, but there will still be lots of joy! There will be no more than 50 people at our reception (per NY law). We will have a color-coded bracelet system for the entire day, so no one has to guess other peoples’ level of comfort. And we can avoid asking awkward questions about it. (If only everything in life were that easy!) Yellow = Okay with chatting, but not touching Red = Keeping a distance at all times

Question

Tell me about the ceremony

Answer

First, a forehead temperature check upon arrival. Then everyone will be asked to use hand sanitizer and (of course) mask up before entering the church. Everyone will be seated spaced out, or with your household/people already in your social “pods.” We will not be doing a receiving line.

Question

How about the reception?

Answer

The Briarcliff Manor is a beautiful old home that’s warm and welcoming. They're a stickler for the rules, and that's a good thing! It will be a lovely evening ... just like those grand dinners on Downton Abbey. COCKTAIL HOUR looks different these days, but it's not all bad. There’s no milling around with a drink in your hand, wondering when it’s time to sit down because your feet hurt. Servers will visit tables with hors d’oeuvres. Tables will be spaced out. Per indoor dining laws, masks must be worn when not seated/eating/drinking. DINNER: Everything is plated, nothing is family style. Tables will have fewer guests than a usual wedding, and will be spaced out (the room accommodates 120+, and we’re only 50). Masks worn when not seated/eating/drinking. Where possible, guests will be seated with their household/people they socialize with. For those wanting even more space, there's an area off the main room. You may enjoy your dinner there, then rejoin your table when you’re ready.

Question

How about fun? Will there be any of that?

Answer

Ummmm YEAH! Even though dancing is on Cuomo's no-no list, you should absolutely start working on your chair-dancing skills. We will have a four-piece band, so even though we can’t get up and dance, we’ll still have a cool concert. Ah, concerts. Remember those? Sigh...

Question

What precautions are being taken by the reception venue?

Answer

Lots. To start, temperature checks for employees, hand sanitizer everywhere, etc. Maryam has a full-page list of the complete details. Please email her if you'd like to see it. maryameshghi@gmail.com

Question

I still have questions

Answer

Contact us! There’s no question too big or too small. We want you to have all the info you need to make your decision, and hope to see you soon. maryameshghi@gmail.com 914-629-3577 jeffdewaters@mac.com 914-907-0131
