Our Story - We Forgot

This is the part where we tell you how we met. Funny enough, we don’t remember how we met. Truly. About five years ago we were at a conference and our friend tried to connect us to one another, which he did, but it was quick and in passing. I said hi and she did as well (we think). Mari and I don’t remember that encounter but when we began to date this same friend reminded us of how we briefly exchanged greetings. He felt like a prophet! We truly believe that God did have his hand in us meeting again. In the same week mutual friends in Florida and in Arizona, without knowing it, planted the seed for us to talk. They said, “You have to talk to this guy!” And, “I think she’ll be perfect for you.” Leke was reluctant and so was I. But we spoke on the phone and it was the start of an amazing friendship. Stalking someone online is what we millennials do nowadays - in a healthy way of course - yet it’s always different when you actually speak and connect with someone in person. So we talked. Went on dates. It was awesome and at times confusing. Friends and family and more friends interrogating. That was funny. Then I asked Mari to be my girlfriend in an extravagent fashion - on top of a parking garage after a tour of where I went to college. It was actually sweet. She loved it! Dating long distance for 8 months had it’s challenges and blessings. When she decided to move, I knew I better not mess this up. Mari is sweet, caring, relational, understanding and clumsy. I’m driven, passionate, goofy and coordinated. We felt like we were better for God and society together (lol) and can truly help one another. Tying the knot is the start of a new covenant and we’d love for you to celebrate, support and encourage us as we begin this new life as one. Pray for us! We love you all.
