Gabby's best friend Bailey (who also happens to be the sister of one of Travis's best friends) had been telling both Gabby and Travis for years that they needed to meet each other, how perfect they would be together, and how they would get married one day if they would just meet. For years of both of them being friends with Bailey and Riley and the Ricci family, they somehow managed to never be in the same place at the same time. On April 21, 2018 Riley (who was roommates with Travis) hosted a BBQ at their house. Gabby tagged along to the BBQ with Bailey, met Travis, and the rest is history. ;) If you ask Travis the moment he knew he wanted to be with Gabby he says, "that night at our BBQ when she was playing beer pong in one hand and chomping on the ribeye steak she was holding in the other hand." If you ask Gabby the moment she knew she wanted to be with Travis she says, "I knew I wanted him like immediately the night of the BBQ, I was so attracted to him; but the moment I just had a feeling we would end up together was a week later on a Sunday at Ev and Jer's house, sitting around the firepit and drinking wine with our people."

Gabby had two wishes for a proposal. 1) She wanted her family to witness it. 2) She wanted photos or video of it. Fast forward... Travis knew Gabby wanted both of these things for a proposal; and with the help of Gabby's Nana they planned it specifically to make those wishes come true. Travis knew he was going to ask Gabby to marry him for quite some time, but he wanted to wait until after he went to Lineman school in Texas. He left for school in February 2020 and graduated May 2020. Immediately after Travis graduated he hopped in his truck and drove 1,730 miles in two and a half days from Texas to Nevada. Along the way he stopped in Utah and bought Gabby a ring. Once he got to Nevada he then stopped at 3 different places that same night to ask her father, mother, and stepfather for permission to marry Gabby. After he made it back to Ely he picked up Gabby and they went to Reno to spend a week with friends and family that they hadn't seen since he left for line school. During their time in Reno, Nana texted to ask that Gabby and Travis partake in practicing family photos when they get back to Ely so she could get her technique down. Gabby didn't think anything of it because there had been talk previously about doing family photos. So, of course they agreed. On June 7th, immediately after getting back to Ely, Travis and Gabby headed up to Success Loop with Gabby's Nana, Papa, Mom, Auntie Heather, and twin brother Nicholas to find some nice locations/practice for family photos. Nana got Gabby set up and posed for the picture while Travis helped her with her camera settings. Nana and Papa were all set up with their cameras to take some "practice shots" and Travis got down on one knee to fix his pant leg and boot. That is when he pulled the ring box of out of his boot and asked Gabby to marry him. Gabby responded with "what. the. heck! is this for real???" Travis assured her that this was indeed "for real", to which Gabby responded and accepted the proposal.
