The best fried chicken, oysters (get the chargrilled ones), and scalloped potatoes in an old gas station. This restaurant group also owns the nearby Little Jack's and Melfi's, which are also terrific spots. And Graft down the street is a great wine bar.
Where Tucker considered proposing on Valentine's Day, but he decided to wait until after dinner and propose on my front porch. Anyway, upscale dining in a historic home. Terrific food and service.
Great nachos, mac and cheese, tots, and burgers in addition to BBQ. Try the frozen Irish coffee or a Gamechanger.
Best rooftop view in town— at the top of the Dewberry Hotel. Excellent cocktails plus they serve food.
Cute coffee shop with outstanding pastries. They have a sister location Harken that is also downtown on Queen St.
Brewery with wine and a fun rooftop. And it’s near some other good spots (Home Team, Lewis Barbeque, and Edmunds Oast).
Our favorite ice cream spot. Local ingredients. Amazing vegan flavors that don’t taste vegan.
Tucker’s favorite bakery. There have been more times than he's proud to admit where he bought things for us to have, but ate them on the way home because he was hungry.
The only bagel place that comes close to NYC bagels.
Local seafood. Perfect for dinner or brunch. Very close to the Hotel Indigo and other hotels in Mt. Pleasant. Try the grits flight!
One of our favorite restaurants that happens to be at the front entrance of I’On so on the way to the Creek Club.
In the middle of the Old Village in Mt. Pleasant. Great for brunch or dinner.
Main shopping street downtown— a mix of chains, designers, and local boutiques. And two great independent bookstores— Buxton Books and Blue Bicycle Books.
Lukia’s favorite beach. Even fun to visit in the winter. All the restaurants are on Middle Street— our favorites are Obstinate Daughter, Sullivan’s Fish Camp, and Home Team. Go down to the end of the island to see Ft. Moultrie for beautiful views of the harbor. Tucker's version: This island is a truly special part of the area, with incredibly gorgeous views, whether the homes or the beach. Scout is also a fan because it's basically a dog park in the mornings.
Tucker’s favorite beach because it’s the surfing spot! Center Street has some good restaurants including Jack of Cups, Chico Feo, and Lost Dog Cafe. Tucker's version: Folly is truly counter-Charleston; it's offbeat, funky, and mellow. January brings some of the largest swells; thus, you will readily find crazy guys (like me) out there surfing in the winter in low-50s water. The area known as "The Washout" has a good handful of people who are near-pro level surfers.
The closest tourist attraction to the Hotel Indigo. You can tour the aircraft carrier. Tours to Ft. Sumter are also available from Patriots Point.
Charleston has some very cool (public) "secret" alleyways that you won't in many cities anywhere. They're beautiful!
Pictures online do not do the serenity and awe-inspiring scenery of this pre-American Revolution-and-onward graveyard smack dab in the middle of downtown justice. The overgrown palmettos and the Spanish moss are a truly unique sight.
