We can't exactly say when we met. Lucy was probably under a year old, maybe even only a few days old! Jimbo's Mom and Lucy's Mom were best friends (even lived down the street from each other) in Atlanta. They had boys close in age, which made it perfect for family trips. The trips went on for multiple years even after the Pitts moved to Charlotte. Fast forward and Lucy and Jimbo saw each other in passing a few times over the years but wasn't until recently that they finally reconnected after college.

Lucy planned a Labor Day weekend mountain trip with her and Jimbos' parents. Since it was Lucy's idea to plan the weekend, she had no idea what Jimbo had in store. On the eve of the engagement, Lucy and Jimbo arrived at the airport only to have their flight be delayed for a couple of hours and eventually cancelled all together! Jimbo was more than a little frantic and began brainstorming ideas, including offering to drive 12 hours through the night, as nothing was going to stop him from getting to the mountains. After a 2am Uber ride from Tampa to Orlando, a 5am flight to Charlotte, and a 2 hour drive, Lucy and Jimbo finally found themselves in a cozy booth in Blowing Rock, enjoying a much needed breakfast. Even though they were exhausted beyond belief and had not showered, Jimbo was determined to get outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air at Bass lake. Halfway around the lake and up a narrow, hidden path, there was a little outcropping that overlooked the lake and here is where he got down on one knee and asked Lucy to be his wife. With a surprise champagne picnic and a weekend full of both our families together (including the siblings that surprised Lucy!), it was certainly one of the best weekends Lucy and Jimbo had ever had together.
