Our story

I call it destiny when a random encounter with an old friend ends up in a casual dinner for three (turns out the friend was a mutual one). On an otherwise typical evening in Puerto, Lucy and I sat down as strangers and talked, laughed and even cried with our friend Maria too. We had fun, though Lucy & I didn't exchange phone numbers... Two days later we meet again at an ice-bath where neither of us really wanted to get cold, but we did wanted to chat and hang out. Luckily we did get our numbers this time (with the excuse to go surfing together, we never did...) And we finally had our first date! Just 8 days before Lucy left for LA for a job interview. Regardless of the circumstances and our short time together, we both felt a connection that was unique. We both stare at each other with curiosity, wondering where this could take us. So the travel began… Lucy returned to Mexico and we travel to the mountains of Oaxaca (where we felt the resistance to our bond melt away in the fireplace). Then David went to Tijuana where we experienced first hand the circumstances of the physical border and understood the complexity of what we were going into. Still we wanted this love, with lots of messages and video calls (and a bit of stubbornness) we flew, drove, had hard conversations (and lots of happy ones too), waited in airports and took red-eyes until we knew we really wanted a life together (still with a very long waiting list for a visa appointment). So it keeps on. David traveled to Belize to expedite the visa process, we meet each others families, went back and forth celebrating, traveling, enjoying and feeling more and more love until the desire of a life together was viscerally needed. David proposed in Oaxaca city (Lucy's favorite city in Mexico). Going outside the norm, we decided that we both wanted to carry a ring, Lucy proposed in Cornwall where we were celebrating our engagement. Now, more than a year and a half after we first met, with a combined millage that can get you around the globe (and four moving trips with multiple suitcases) we finally moved together in Puerto where we're planing this beautiful event and creating a life together. ~David
