Lucas and Christiana first met in the backseat of her mom's minivan on their way to Lucas's first soccer game in the U.S. Christiana tried to be friendly by attempting to strike a conversation with him, but he didn't respond let alone glance at her. He claims that he didn't hear her as he was too nervous about his upcoming game, but to her, he left the worst first impression. As their parents worked side by side at the Lotte food court, they grew even closer and once Christiana's family began to attend Lucas's church, they hung out all the time. There were joint family camping trips, holiday parties, and etc. For a while, Lucas was deemed the designated babysitter for Christiana's baby sister, Grace. Because of these circumstances, Christiana saw Lucas as a "dongseng" (aka a younger brother), but Lucas had developed feelings for her over the years. The timing never seemed to work out, yet he never let her forget that she was more than a "noona" (older sister) to him. After years and years of waiting for her, Lucas's persistence finally piqued Christiana's curiosity; she realized that he had been there through all her ups and downs. They went on their first date on August 17th, 2016 with the blessing of both families and the rest is history.
