It was a beautiful December Sabbath afternoon in good ole' Chattanooga Tennessee, on the campus of Southern Adventist University! Every Saturday a group of our mutual friends would get together and do activities, this particular Saturday the activity that they chose was Spike Ball. Spike Ball is a 2 on 2 game that is a combination of volleyball and 4 square. Everyone else came with their pair/Spike Ball partner, one of our friends spoke up and decided that since neither Justin nor I had played before and did not have a pair that we should be each others partners. We played for hours and we were horrible. After playing for 5 hours and losing often, you learn a lot about someone. The afternoon ended and we went our separate ways, coincidentally Amber was walking into the dorm as Justin and his friend pulled up to the dorm. Justin then asked Amber if she would like to go to eat with them, Amber said the would think about it and possibly see them there. Low and behold Amber showed up, and we had a great time with everyone and didn't even say one word to each other. Two days later, Justin messaged Amber on facebook and said "We need to grab coffee sometime and talk about our Spike Ball strategy." Amber thought this was very clever and couldn't refuse. Since it was Christmas break, we didn't get to see each other again until 6 weeks later. However, we talked the whole time. We got the chance to really get to know each other as who the other person was. Realized that our values, goals, family orientation and love of God aligned with each other, had some bumps and curves in the road.. but to us, the rest is history!
