The moment we saw each other, we knew we needed to be friends. We didn’t know why but there was only one way to find out. We both worked at a bakery, it all started with laughing tons at work, everyone suspecting there was a connection, asking if we liked each other, it almost felt like we were in school. The connection was a big elephant in the room until we began hanging outside of work and connecting over music and serenading each other. Jason would come to my house at all hours of the night to sit on my porch & talk about Music & Life. We spent our days ugly laughing, taking trips to gardens, kayaking & making meals n smoothies together (a lot of which were alcoholic). Til one day we went to a bar, Jason was teaching me how to spin 45s and won me over with a few Pina Coladas. We went home and I fell asleep on his shoulder in the car. In that moment I knew everything felt right, the world could be in shambles and everything was ok because we were right next to each other. I was itching to tell him I wanted this to be our everyday. We got to his house and I took a deep breath, told my self, “here goes everything” and told him how I felt. What a beautiful feeling when someone feels the same way. The next morning, I woke up at 6am to defrost chicken to make us Chicken & Waffles, and laid right back next to him waiting for the chicken to defrost, as I fall back asleep in his arms I hear water dripping, I ran to the kitchen in panic to find the whole sink over flooded with water. I grabbed about 10 towels to clean the mess up. Any other guy would’ve probably kicked me out ASAP. He stood there laughing in disbelief that I was planning on making him this crazy breakfast, kissed me and told me it was ok. We belly laughed about it all morning. And I know in the end those waffles won his heart. I knew he knew he was in for a surprise because it was the start. We knew this was the beginning of something beautiful. When you know it in your heart and soul, you just know.
