We first crossed paths at work toward the end of 2019, just in time for the world to turn upside down. When COVID hit, we became each other’s lifelines; fast friends with a connection that felt instant, easy, and familiar. For Kayla, there was never a question...being with Rick felt unmistakably right. It felt less like falling and more like returning, a quiet recognition, as if they had somehow known each other before. He made her feel safe, steady, and sure. There was no lightning bolt moment, just an immediate comfort and the kind of certainty that comes from feeling completely known. For Rick, he realized he had found someone who saw him clearly and loved him because of it. What drew him was the details. He noticed her intelligence first, the way she thought through things carefully. He noticed her kindness, how naturally she went out of her way for others without ever needing credit. And finally, her authenticity, that she says what she means and means what she says, even when it’s written all over her face. Together, we created the kind of love built on trust, laughter, and the freedom to fully be ourselves. Even our earliest “dates” felt more like a partnership. We focused on home projects; first transforming Kayla’s space, then tackling Rick’s new home in New Jersey. After seeing Party Palace, Olive and Bagheera promptly claimed the house as their own, long before Kayla officially moved in. Somewhere between paint swatches and power tools, a true love took shape. Rick converted Kayla into a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, and officially welcomed her into the legendary Kettle Krew. "Davis Tours" was created and we traveled everywhere. Weekends became a blend of shark tooth hunting, Lego building and tending salt water tanks (Rick), crafting and reading (Kayla), all while Rick was embracing his unofficial role as Kayla’s devoted pool boy. In March of 2025, Rick made it official with a breathtaking proposal in Jamaica, including a violinist, a glowing fire pit, a perfect starry night, and even a shooting star, as if the universe itself wanted in on the moment. Now, our love story continues in Key Largo, where Davis Tours makes its most important stop yet. We’ll say “I do” with our toes in the sand, salty air in our hair (at least for Kayla), and hearts full of love and gratitude.
