It all began in March of 2015 when we both swiped right on Tinder. Lesllie of course could not resist what she saw and messaged me “Hello”. After messaging each other for days, we finally exchanged phone numbers and switched to texting all day. If you would have asked either of us on our first date if we thought we’d make it this far, we would have said there’s no way, especially because neither of us were looking for a relationship at the time. Lesllie may have made the first move initially but I had to take a shot and ask her out on a date. Lesllie must have thought I had it going on because she made the drive from Pacoima to Anaheim to pick me up. Lol. For our first date we went out for Sushi- which is a bold move if you ask me because having to stuff your mouth with a sushi roll while trying to look like a lady is not easy. Nonetheless, we had a great time. After dinner, we headed to Newport Beach to hang out and watch the waves. I can’t tell you exactly why or how but it was just so easy to talk to each other. We talked about everything and anything that night. Although the connection was strong from the beginning, Lesllie kept trying to hold my hand and was giving me that look you give when you want to be kissed but I was just too shy to make my move. It wasn’t until she left my house at 3:00am that I kissed her goodbye. After commuting from Pacoima to Orange County for a year an a half, and having my first car breakdown in the process, we decided to move in together. In late 2016, Lesllie graduated from Cal State LA, rented a U-haul and moved in with me in.
In November 2017, during our trip to London, we went to The Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio since we’re big fans of the Harry Potter. We had the opportunity to see all the original costumes and props used in the movies. At one point, we came across the Hogwarts bridge and once I saw it I just knew that’s where I wanted to ask Lesllie to marry me. Since the proposal was a secret, I went to the restroom with my cousin Christina so she can give me the ring. When we returned, I asked Lesllie to go on the bridge with me to check it out but she told me “Oh, go ahead I already saw it”. I panicked a little because now I had to convince her to see it again, especially because it was just your average bridge. Lol. I was able to convince her to go back on the bridge with me but she kept walking ahead of me. Again, I had to get her to slow down and admire this ordinary bridge with me. I felt like it wasn’t going my way so I got very nervous. I finally stopped her and asked to take a moment to look at where we were. We were in London for god sakes at the Warner Brothers Studios! I thanked her for coming with me and that I could not picture my life without her and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I got down on one knee and told her she was my everything and asked if she would marry me. Lesllie was in complete disbelief and shocked because she must have asked me about 10 times if I was serious- mind you this entire time I’m down on one knee with a ring in my hand and she thinks I’m not serious. She said yes of course! Otherwise I would not be writing this. Throughout all these years we’ve been together, we’ve gotten to grow so much as individuals but most importantly as a couple. We both love and respect each other so much that it just makes it so easy for our love to continue growing for one another. We have plans of moving out of state to Oregon, getting a dog, possibly 2 more cats and most importantly children.
