Matthew and Elizabeth were randomly placed on the same kickball team at Piedmont Park. He had been persuaded into signing up by his friends. Elizabeth had just moved to Atlanta and knew no one in the city. She thought she could find some friends through the league. During the first season, Matt and Elizabeth had developed a group of friends through the kickball team that would hang out after the games and on the weekends. By the third season, they had realized they were spending a lot more time hanging out with just the two of them than the larger group. Then one day, when the game was cancelled due to rain, they didn't want to miss a night seeing each other when they usually would. They decided to go to dinner and had realized a lot of the reason they loved kickball was because of the time they got to spend time together. After that night, they decided to start dating and the rest is history.
Very early on in the relationship, Elizabeth and Matthew knew they had something special. Just 6 months in, they were already looking at wedding venues. So, when Matthew asked her to go ring shopping with him one day, it came as no surprise (though she still lost her mind!) Elizabeth found the ring online from a sustainable diamond company and it was shipped to their apartment in a matter of weeks. Now, Matthew just needed to find a good way to ask. So, he tried to plan a weekend getaway. But, being the one that plans everything, Elizabeth immediately knew something was up. She asked him if he was going to pop the question, and he told her yes (which was a good thing - Elizabeth doesn't like surprises). And so, the two planned an intimate getaway to Helen, Georgia, where they both knew what was coming. What Elizabeth didn't know was that Matthew had written a page in his journal earlier that day. It was about how the ring represented their relationship - beautiful, clear, and long-lasting. As the sun set on their cabin in the woods, he read what he'd written and asked the magical question. She said yes, tears full in her eyes, despite worrying she wouldn't cry. The two spent the rest of the weekend on wine tours in "Nappalachia," and the rest is, as they say, history.
Midtown - we chose to host our wedding in Midtown Atlanta. Midtown is where we work, play and live. We wanted to share a piece of our lives with the people we love the most. We hope to show you what Atlanta means to us. Piedmont Park - The park is a very special place to us. We met and fell in love at the park playing kickball in the active oval. We also live across the street, so the park has been our oasis as we've quarantined and more. By hosting our wedding at the park, we are also to give a portion of the cost back to the park. We hope you have some time to explore a place dear to our hearts.
