Our story began at the University of Illinois in sunny Champaign, IL. This magical place, filled with friends and family, was the nurturing atmosphere in which we spent the first years of our relationship. Here, we enjoyed every second in the present while dreaming about the future. During these fun and, at times, chaotic years, we found comfort in one another. Little did we know, we were establishing the foundation upon which we would build our lives.

College years blended into the real world a couple of hours north of Champaign. Blend is such an important word to use in this instance as we spent two years apart: Clayton in Chicago and Layton in Champaign. We wouldn't have it any other way. The distance of these years brought us together even closer. We developed a deep love and appreciation of the limited time we had together. This appreciation persisted as Layton made the journey to Chicago where our love blossomed. Often hard at work on our careers, we always found time for one another. We continued to cherish the moments we spent together while developing new and exciting relationships with lifelong friends. Family has always loomed large in both of our lives and being in Chicago allowed us to develop our bond surrounded by loved ones.

The blessing of the residency match brought us to the great, expansive West. Spokane has been an incredible experience for us in so many ways. We have loved the sense of adventure it has brought out in the both of us as we explore the hikes, rivers, lakes, and ski slopes this incredible region has to offer. The small city feel has been a refreshing contrast against the excitement of Chicago city life. If anything, Spokane has taught us about what is most important in life: one another. We are so blessed to have been confronted with the challenges that this year has brought us. We have truly learned to rely on one another to get through the hard times and celebrate the good. The people we have met and the relationships we have cultivated will never be forgotten. Spokane will always hold a special place in our hearts.
