Back in 2016, Reilly and Lauren were both new to DC and ready to start a new chapter. Who knew, this new chapter would kick off together! Lauren had just finished Grad school and moved up from Richmond, while Reilly had just graduated from UGA (GO DAWGS) and made her way up from ATL (hotlanta, as Lauren says). Both joined a dating app to meet new people, as millennials do. Lauren quickly found herself intrigued by a blue-eyed girl, and Reilly immediately swiped right on the chick riding a motorcycle. Many facetimes and texts later, a first date was on the books. Reilly had never planned a first date before, and thought it was totally normal to invite a stranger over for dinner. As a broke recent college grad, the menu was homemade margherita pizza and wine. Lauren had a meeting in Charlottesville that day which ran late and faced car troubles that landed her at a car shop in the middle of nowhere. But no fear, she made sure to stop at Veritas for a bottle of wine to bring to the date and made it to the district in time for sunset. The two talked for hours on the deck overlooking Meridian Hill Park, and immediately planned a second date. Fast forward five years, and Lauren finally proposed in a very modest, low key, no planning fashion as would be expected... ON THE CAPITOL’S SPEAKER’S BALCONY! Though the engagement was initially scheduled for April 2020, that August Lauren pulled off the most special, thoughtful and impressive engagement – in the middle of a global pandemic no less. Surrounded by friends and family, the pair celebrated at one of their favorite haunts Bluemont Vineyards with copious amounts of wine and laughter. Now, it’s time to tie the knot in the same way at Pippin Hill!
