Kris and Katy met on a dating app in March 2020. After a couple days of messaging, they planned their first date which included a long walk down Michigan Ave., a stop at Starbucks (pink drink for Kris, black coffee for Katy), and dinner at a Thai restaurant. After lots and lots of smiling and laughing, the night only ended when the restaurant closed and it was too cold to keep walking. Little did they know that 1 week later, just after their second date, Covid-19 cases would increase, the world would shut down, and they would have to decide if they liked each other enough to include one another in their Covid bubbles. Luckily, they decided to stick it out. The next few months were filled with lots of Law & Order SVU, West Wing, cooking meals together, listening to music, and deep conversations over FaceTime. They were thankful to be able to meet each others' families later that summer, and the rest is history!

After a Labor Day weekend with the Liefeld's in September 2021, Katy was sure she was not being proposed to that day. After some fancy maneuvering (read: lying) by the Liefeld family to get Kris and Katy out of their house, they ended a day of regular errands at the Elmhurst Art Museum where they are getting married. Katy was so preoccupied with checking their task off their list that she didn't even notice the cute little "Will you Marry Me?" sign and accompanying decorations that Kris's sisters had secretly set up before they arrived. All of a sudden she was reading the sign, Kris was on one knee, and she just kept saying, "It's happening now?! We were just at Target!" After setting aside disbelief, Katy couldn't say YES fast enough and they were met with a surprise (to Katy) gathering of friends and family at the Liefeld home. We can't wait to celebrate our love with all of you who mean so much to us individually and together. We wouldn't be where we are or who we are without each one of you and can't wait to celebrate in May!!
