Luke and Franki had many opportunities to meet each other, but somehow the timing didn’t work out until late 2018. Franki had been hired at Target back in spring, but Luke joined the crew in fall. Then, they did a brief stint of overnights together during seasonal. Franki called Luke on the walkie any time she needed something heavy carried. When May rolled around, Franki was promoted to Team Lead. It only took Luke a couple months to catch up, and he got his promotion too. The two newest Team Leads in the building couldn’t help but start bonding. In August of 2019, Franki moved out to Frederick. She invited Luke over to help her set up some of her heavier furniture. And from there, the magic only grew. He started coming over and more and more often. He made sure to collect her for every break at work. They were starting to become inseparable. By Valentine’s Day of 2020, they decided it was time he move in. And just in time for Covid to put them in quarantine the next month together! But right about when our quarantine was starting, they got their baby pitsky, Tequila. Quarantine was spent watching every Disney movie Franki could think of because Luke apparently hadn’t seen them. They had quite the list to get through. Cars and Toy Story were repeated often, though, as they became Luke’s favorites ahead of even the Lion King. When they finally returned back to work after two months of quarantine, Franki’s health began to decline. Randomly, she’d get the shakes and heart palpitations. There was no explanation except apparently stress. Seasonal hit and Luke had to do overnights again. When he came back dayside, a swap happened, and Franki ended up going overnight, but her health was getting worse and worse, so she took an LOA to focus on getting healthy. Luke was patient and caring through it all. But upon her return, she still wasn’t feeling okay. By October of 2021, she had to leave Target. Between the commute and stress, it seemed her body couldn’t handle it. After that hardship, Franki started up at the Frederick Wine House, but they needed more support as her daughter started school. So, summer 2022, they listed the condo and moved in with Franki’s parents in a basement apartment. This caused its own set of stressors and problems for the couple to overcome. In the fall of 2023, Franki then had to leave the Frederick Wine House for their poor management style and mistreatment of team members. What had started to feel like a second family while a small shop was becoming a corporate nightmare. It took some figuring out of next steps, but Franki decided to go back to school to work on her degree and started up with the school system as a substitute assistant. After an amazing job one-on-one at one school, this led to her being offered a full-time position in the pre-K program for the next school year. Luke was again very supportive through the whole process. Then, June 11th, 2024 came about. The day Luke decided to propose at Niagara Falls. After almost 5 years together, the couple was finally going to get married. But after some advice, they decided to enjoy the engagement for a year, and then plan the wedding for a year. The silly giver of advice didn’t know that Franki was an extreme planner and started planning right away. After the whole wedding was essentially planned, life spun around, and Luke and Franki decided to buy a house together in December 2025. It’s the perfect little spot for their family to continue to grow after marriage. Now, we await the wedding day with so much joy and can’t wait for you all to join us!
