Sadly, it wasn't love at first sight. They both were sent on a two-week work exercise helping train new military doctors with their field and combat casualty care. Adam had been on the exercise before, and it was Hannah's first time, though she mostly stayed with her friend Brandee the entire time. After introductions were made there weren't many more interaction until after the exercise was over and everyone had gone back to normal work. Their next meeting happened when Hannah was in the car with Brandee dropping someone off at the barracks on base and Adam was sitting by the bus stop. After recognizing each other and starting a conversation we realized they both lived on base. This knowledge led to them hanging out a few times on friendly terms and getting to know each other. This was all before what they considered their first date.
Adam was coming back from a camping trip and Hannah was just bored and wanted to go watch a movie. But she didn’t want to go by herself. She had started the 4.5 mile walk to the movie theater while texting him asking when he would be back and if he wanted to go see a movie with her. He was all for it, just had to actually get back. Sadly, he wouldn’t be back till almost 10pm. And it was only noon. So, she dilly dallied around till it was time. The movie was Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne Johnson. There were many laughs and shared humor between the two. He gave her a ride back home and they had a late-night pizza before finally calling it a night.
It was their last day visiting in Alaska before heading back home. They had stopped by Hannah’s Grandma’s place for dinner, and she had suggested that the two of them go see the flocks of snow geese that were gathering behind her house. So, after dinner they drove around the neighborhood and went to look at the birds. As they were standing there looking at the massive amount of snow geese in a field. Adam turned to Hannah and asked her to come over to his side of the car. Once she came around to his side he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him which she said yes to. Upon the utterance of the life changing words all the geese flew up into the sky honking, as if they were celebrating.
