How We Met

May 21st 2018

I (Kori) used to attend an open gym volleyball group while on breaks throughout college and highschool. Little did I know, Kaden had also been attending these open gyms and I just kept missing him as I went back off to school each time. In May of 2018, I moved home from college after graduation and was eager to get re-integrated into local volleyball groups and hopefully reconnect with some old friends. So I went to a Monday night grass scrimmage and was met across the net by Kaden and his charming self. We exchanged introductions and I was awkward as usual. Totally thought I’d ruined my shot before it even began! It’s fine though because look at us now! Who knew my best friend was waiting for me back in Olympia all of this time, growing up by my side just a hop and a skip away.

The Proposal

March 16th 2019

I knew that I was going to marry Kori after our first date. I bought her ring in October... And then I had to return it because they put the wrong size center stone in. I started planning a surprise birthday party for Kori in January with the intention of using it as a way to propose as well. After months of mental exhaustion and stress due to hiding surprise after surprise from her (A birthday video of out of town family and friends, flying one of her best friends in from South Carolina, and THE RING) we finally got to her surprise party... About 10 minutes early. Not my best timing. She was so overwhelmed by the surprise of the party, and the shock of seeing her friend from South Carolina, that by the time I played the video of her out of town friends and family, everything was really just a blur. So, when I came on the screen at the end of the video and told her that I had one last present to give to her, she was a little out of sorts. So out of sorts that she laughed when she turned around and saw me on one knee with a ring in my hand. The time had finally come when I could actually ask her, “Will You marry me?”, and she said yes!
