It was Klara's first day on campus and another day of ministry for Spencer. They met at the Campus Christian Fellowship outreach tent when Klara was offered a water bottle that hot August day, and she was soon introduced to Spencer. For the next several months they got to know each other as friends, although Spencer caught on quickly that the future might hold more for them.

Friendship turned into flirting and flirting turned into future-talk. Rehearsed and nervous, Spencer asked Klara to take a walk on campus one evening and expressed that he was interested in pursuing a relationship with her. Klara was very cautious, but not opposed to the possibility, so they agreed to take time to get to know each other better over the phone and pray about it before starting a relationship.

In November, after many phone calls and much prayer, they finally went on a couple dates! On the third date, over a cup of tea at a cafe, they made their relationship official, starting a wonderful new chapter. Since then they've had many adventures together! One of their go-to dates is to drive in a random direction, stopping at interesting points along the way, and see where they end up! This always leads to lots of laughs and fun memories made.

It didn't take long for them to realize that this was the real deal. A little over a year later, Spencer made the move and took a knee. He was visiting Klara in Missoula for a few days when they went up to her family's lake cabin for New Year's Day. Spencer eagerly suggested that they take a hike on the frozen lake in nearly subzero temperatures before dark. A bit confused but unsuspecting, Klara agreed and they headed down to the lake together, accompanied by her sister. After some exploring on the lake and attempting to build a snowman, Spencer innocently suggested they all take a selfie together and then asked Klara's sister to take a picture of them together, taking the opportunity to get down on one knee. He popped the question, and Klara said yes!
